TITLE: Factors affecting high school students’ career preference: A basis for career planning program

Unemployment rate in the country is commonly associated with the misfit graduates produced by universities and colleges and the workforce needed by different companies. The wrong choice of course taken by most of high school students adds to the unemployment and underemployment rate of newly graduate students. With this the study determined the factors affecting the fourth year high school students’ career preference of University of Rizal System’Laboratory School in Morong Rizal. The relationship of the factors affecting students’ preference of course to their career preference, Brainard’s Occupational Preference Inventory (BOPI) results, academic achievement and their elective grades were considered. Frequency, percentage and chi-square were used as statistical treatments. The findings revealed that the availability of work after college is the first consideration of students in choosing a course in college. Most of the students prefer to take scientific related field courses, or the “popular courses” for Filipinos. The least preferred course are in the Agricultural field. The BOPI results showed that most of the student-respondents are suited to take professional courses. Students’ preferred course is related to their BOPI result as well as to their father’s occupation. Other factors such as mother’s occupation, monthly family income, students’ sibling position and students’ third year general average grades are not related to the students’ preferred course in college to their BOPI results. BOPI results are significantly related to the students’ elective course grades.

Answer 1

Answer:

The article discusses a study on the factors affecting the career preferences of fourth year high school students at the University of Rizal System's Laboratory School in Morong Rizal. The study aimed to identify the factors that influence students' choice of college courses and career paths. The study used statistical treatments such as frequency, percentage, and chi-square to analyze the data collected from the students.

The study found that the availability of work after college is the top consideration for students when choosing a course in college. Students tend to choose popular courses related to scientific fields, while agricultural courses are the least preferred. The study also found that students' preferred courses are related to their Brainard's Occupational Preference Inventory (BOPI) results and their father's occupation.

Interestingly, the study found that factors such as mother's occupation, monthly family income, and students' third year general average grades are not related to students' preferred course in college and their BOPI results. However, the BOPI results are significantly related to the students' elective course grades.

Overall, the study provides insight into the factors that influence high school students' career preferences and can serve as a basis for developing career planning programs.

Answers

Answer:

What is one positive result of American Imperialism? Briefly explain

Explanation:

One positive result of American imperialism is the spread of American values and ideas about democracy and human rights to other countries. For example, after the Spanish-American War in 1898, the United States gained control of the Philippines and began a process of modernization and democratization, which included building schools, establishing a judicial system, and creating a constitution that enshrined democratic principles.

Similarly, during the post-World War II era, the United States used its economic and military power to help rebuild war-torn countries in Europe and Japan, which resulted in the spread of democratic institutions and capitalist economic systems.

Overall, while American imperialism has had many negative consequences, the spread of democratic values and institutions can be seen as a positive outcome that has contributed to the growth of democratic societies around the world.

What does the three fifths compromise has to do with the constitution and what is one way we can improve the constitution for that?

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

The Three-Fifths Compromise was a provision included in the United States Constitution during the Constitutional Convention of 1787. It stated that slaves would be counted as three-fifths of a person for the purpose of apportioning representation and taxation among the states. This compromise was necessary to secure the agreement of southern states to the new Constitution, as they wanted slaves to be counted as full persons for the purpose of representation, but not for the purpose of taxation.

The Three-Fifths Compromise has been widely criticized for perpetuating the institution of slavery and treating enslaved persons as less than fully human. One way to improve the Constitution with regard to this issue would be to remove any provisions that treat individuals differently based on their race, ethnicity, or any other protected characteristic. This could include amendments that explicitly prohibit the use of race or ethnicity in determining representation or taxation, or that guarantee equal protection under the law for all people regardless of their race or ethnicity.

Another way to address the legacy of the Three-Fifths Compromise and other discriminatory provisions of the Constitution would be to promote greater civic education and engagement around issues of race and equality. This could involve expanding educational resources and opportunities to help people understand the history and ongoing impacts of racism, as well as providing greater support for organizations and initiatives that promote diversity, inclusion, and social justice.

which of the following works of art illustrates how romanized the etruscans had become by the first century bce?

Answers

Aule Metele illustrates how Romanized the Etruscans had become by the first century BCE. So, option A is correct.

Aule Metele, also known as the Chimera of Arezzo, is a bronze statue that was created by an Etruscan artist in the 4th century BCE. The statue depicts a mythical creature with the body of a lion, the head of a goat, and a serpent for a tail.

The reason why Aule Metele illustrates how Romanized the Etruscans had become by the first century BCE is that it shows the influence of both Etruscan and Roman artistic styles. The statue was found in Arezzo, which was an important Etruscan city, but it was created during a time when the Roman Republic was expanding its influence over the Italian peninsula. The statue's style is a blend of Etruscan and Roman elements, suggesting that the Etruscans were adapting to Roman cultural norms and artistic styles. Therefore, Aule Metele is an example of how the Etruscans had become Romanized by the first century BCE.

What are some recent examples of community change that involves a clash between different cultures that helped disadvantaged communities and the populations.?

Answers

One recent example of community change involving a clash between different cultures that helped disadvantaged communities is the Black Lives Matter movement.

What informs the movement?

The movement began in 2013 in response to the killing of Trayvon Martin, a young African American teenager, and gained national attention in 2014 after the killing of Michael Brown, an unarmed black man, by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri.

The movement, which has been led primarily by young Black activists, has been focused on combating police brutality and systemic racism against Black people in the United States. The movement has sparked protests, marches, and rallies across the country, and has brought attention to issues such as racial profiling, police violence, and mass incarceration.

The movement has also led to clashes between different cultures, as many white Americans have struggled to understand the experiences of Black Americans and the systemic issues they face. However, the movement has also brought about important changes, such as increased awareness of police violence and calls for police reform, as well as changes in public opinion and attitudes toward racial justice.

Another recent example of community change involving a clash between different cultures is the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's opposition to the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) in North Dakota. The pipeline, which was designed to transport oil from North Dakota to Illinois, was opposed by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and other Native American groups, who argued that it posed a threat to their water supply and violated their treaty rights.

The opposition to the pipeline sparked protests and demonstrations, with thousands of people, including members of other tribes and non-Native allies, joining the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in their opposition. The movement gained national attention and was ultimately successful in halting the pipeline's construction, although the victory was short-lived, as the pipeline was later completed by the Trump administration.

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's opposition to the DAPL brought attention to issues of environmental justice and the importance of respecting the rights of Indigenous peoples. It also highlighted the ongoing struggles of Native American communities, who have historically been marginalized and oppressed in the United States.

1. Did you already know the difference between equality and equity?

2. How is equity and empathy connected and how does that effect the notion of “fairness” you learned about in the video?

3. How has the notion of equity and equality played out in American history, between about 1965 through today? Analyze a couple the songs in the 1970s Latinx playlist. How do the lyrics speak to equity and/or equality? Can you point to specific events, laws, or social changes that have occurred since then that relate to women?

4. How do you think we can bring equity into the college classroom, especially during these current times?

Answers

Answer:

Explanation: 1. Equality means treating everyone the same way regardless of their differences, while equity means ensuring that everyone has access to the same opportunities and resources they need to succeed, even if it requires treating people differently based on their circumstances.

2. Equity and empathy are connected in the sense that empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others, and equity requires understanding the different circumstances and needs of individuals or groups to create fair and just outcomes. When we are empathetic towards others, we are better able to identify and address systemic inequalities and create equitable solutions. This can lead to a more nuanced understanding of fairness that goes beyond treating everyone the same.

3. The notion of equity and equality has played out in American history in a variety of ways since 1965, including the Civil Rights Movement, the Women's Rights Movement, and the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. In the 1970s Latinx playlist, songs like "Chicano Park Samba" by Lalo Guerrero and "El Chicano" by El Chicano speak to the struggles of Mexican-Americans in California and their fight for equality and representation. The lyrics of these songs address issues such as police brutality, discrimination, and cultural identity. Since then, several laws and social changes have occurred, including the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Equal Pay Act of 1963, the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision in 1973, and the passage of the Affordable Care Act in 2010, which includes provisions for women's health.

4. To bring equity into the college classroom, especially during these current times, there are several strategies that can be employed. One is to acknowledge and address the systemic inequalities that exist in education, such as disparities in access to resources and support. This can involve implementing policies and practices that prioritize the needs of marginalized students, such as providing extra tutoring or counseling services, ensuring accessibility for students with disabilities, and creating opportunities for students to share their experiences and perspectives. Another strategy is to use diverse teaching methods and materials that reflect the experiences and perspectives of students from different backgrounds, and to create a classroom environment that is inclusive and welcoming for all students. Finally, it is important to engage in ongoing reflection and dialogue about issues of equity in the classroom and to be open to feedback and critique from students.
