in paragraph 2, why does the author mention a statistic- the number of people who have completed the journey
Answer:
For evidence.
Explanation:
An author may include a statistic to provide evidence for their claims.
A statistic may be used by an author to support their assertions.
Why are statistics important in an essay?Because they enable individuals to make educated decisions, statistics are crucial. Statistics are gathered by corporations, organizations, and governments to aid in issue analysis, progress monitoring, performance evaluation, and priority setting. For instance, the U.S. Census Bureau gathers data on people's ages and places of residence. If cities discover that a region has a large senior population or a large number of families with small children, this knowledge might assist them to determine where to establish a new school or hospital.
On a personal level, using statistics to support your points in a paper or presentation is a terrific idea. They demonstrate the existence of supporting data and give your work more credence. There are a few things to bear in mind when using statistics to support an argument and persuade your audience. Because statistics are frequently used out of context, they can be deceptive.

Island life offers the best of all worlds. Take Lummi Island, for example, the smallest of the San Juan Islands in northwest Washington and still a well-kept secret. Though its meager population quadruples to 4,000 with the summer tourist season, it never feels the slightest bit crowded. One can always find a deserted beach to roam or a forest path to explore. The mainland is only a 12-minute ferry ride away, so city life is within reach. Bainbridge Island, near Seattle, is another prime choice for those wishing to live somewhere with peace and quiet but proximity to a city. Many Seattle employees live on the island and commute each day to their downtown jobs. Vashon Island, near Tacoma, might seem too small for some. There is no "town" to speak of, but a quiet little artists' community thrives there.
Family homes on the islands mentioned above are no more expensive than on the mainland. Such houses offer stellar views of surrounding landscape, including mountains, waterways, and other scenic islands. Otter, bald eagles, seals, and even whales are frequent visitors to Pacific coastal islands. They are a nature lover's paradise and also offer perfect settings for stargazers and photographers. Quite a few island inhabitants were once tourists who found they couldn't bear to leave and made the island their home.
If there are drawbacks, they are only these: there is usually a minimum of culture in terms of theater or music events. But all that means is an excursion into town now and then to get your fix. The same is true if you want a wide variety of food or like to eat in restaurants. The only other minor drawback is the ferry schedule, which can be sporadic. There are also periods of time each year when ferries are in "dry dock" and not running due to planned or unplanned repairs. Still, for those wanting to escape the noise and stress of city life, islands are a perfect choice. They are among the nation's few remaining unspoiled places to call home.
Which sentence best summarizes the author's attitude in this selection?
A.
There is no "town" to speak of, but a quiet little artists' community thrives there.
B.
But all that means is an excursion into town now and then to get your fix.
C.

Wright a essay are electric cars better than gas cars for the environment
[tex] \huge{ \underline{ \underline{ \mathtt{ \purple{A} \pink{N} \green{S} \blue{W} \red{E} \orange{R}}}}}[/tex]♡
There has been a lot of development in the car industry, especially if comparing the current achievements to the first car models in the 19th century. The changes help reach the level of comfort and efficiency required nowadays. The reasons for the newest modifications also include environmental issues and the cost of gas. Gas- and diesel-powered cars are getting more of a luxurious item than ever before. Therefore, people have started looking for alternative power solutions.
➪Introduction :-Through trial and error, developers could come up with the idea of electric cars. Today, all the most notable car brands have their electric car model. The variety of choices can confuse the potential buyer, though. It leads us to the purpose of this compare and contrast essay on electric cars vs. gas cars. Similarities and differences between them are discussed in the first two parts. Then, the advantages of each type of car are presented separately. The conclusion reveals the outcome of this battle.
➪Similarities between Electric& Gas Cars :Electric and gas cars look the same on the outside. Even though the models vary from brand to brand, a newbie probably won’t be able to tell the difference between electric and gas cars. Both types are shaped to resist the wind, which is a common sense in the car industry. Also, they share standard features like mirrors and indicators as they are the universal parts of all cars. It also includes the wheel, pedals, and car seatsBesides, it is quite evident that both electric and gasoline cars serve the same purpose, transporting passengers and goods. Moreover, the general interior features would also be similar.

STORY: The Winter Hibiscus
questions are below! best responses will be marked as BRAINLIEST!!! :D
1. What does the Winter Hibiscus symbolize? Use examples from the text to support your response. *
2. When discussing literature, the term "dynamic character" means simply a character who undergoes some important change in the course of the story. Who is a dynamic character in "The Winter Hibiscus"? Why should this character be considered 'dynamic'? Provide evidence/examples from the beginning and the end of the story to support your response. *
3. What is the theme of the short story "The Winter Hibiscus"? What example(s) and/or event(s) from the text prove this? *
4. Based on her experiences in the story, what is the most difficult conflict that Saeng must face? (You can choose any of her internal conflicts or either of her external conflicts: Saeng vs. her mother, Saeng vs. her new environment in the United States) Use examples/evidence from the text to support your ideas. *
5. Using the list of generational conflicts on the whiteboard in the front of the classroom, what is the most dominate generational conflict in "The Winter Hibiscus?" Explain your ideas using examples from the text. *
The story, Winter Hibiscus is a very attention grabbing and perhaps a very beautiful one too. Thes story's main point or summary is a little mysterious in some ways. The plot Mountain goes like this
Rising Action: Saeng Failed the test and she is very mad at herself for failing
Rising Action: David (I can infer that Saeng likes him) looks like he already has someone to hang out with
Rising Actions are usually parts/events of the story that make the "problem worse". It is conflict that Characters face before everything is resolved the end.
There are many Conflicts that are mentioned, and some are
what I Infer about. In the part when she had taken the Car License test, you see that she is stressing out a lot. I could infer that she in having little conflicts with herself about If she's going to fail or not. Little did she know, these little conflicts turned out to be "BIG PROBLEMS" that she must face. She ends up not stopping at the Stop sign because she was worried and had little fights within her body. In which, we could turn to the Climax as she fails the License Test. During this part, the theme has not showed yet or to be made "Clearer"
Towards the falling action the story and the theme start to enroll in a way. When Saeng bought the winter Hibiscus it felt like a symbol of Hope. The texts from the book say that she planted the Winter Hibiscus, which comforts her in a way. It just comforts her.
Saeng is in fact a dynamic character I would say. In the rising action part, she was very mad at herself for failing. She does not do really anything about it. Instead, she is like "Eh, who cares", "It's just some weird test". Though, towards the end, the story made me feel like she has a little hope with her new life in America
I hope this helped

In the article Minute That Matter by Kristina Waltz, two teenagers Brittany & her brother Robbie wanted to help military soldiers with their phone bills so they started an organization called Cell Phones for Soldiers. In another article, Food that Fuels by Chad Bailey, Cassandra & other teenagers formed another organization called Food that Fuels where they save food grease & reuse it and refine it into biodiesel. In the organization Cell Phone for Soldiers, Kristina & Robbie first began by raising money to help a soldier pay his cell phone bill. Brittany decided to send donated cell phones to the soldiers. Which sentence in this excerpt from The Time Machine by H. G. Wells indicates that the narrator has little hope for the Time Traveller’s return? I felt an unreasonable amazement. I knew that something strange had happened, and for the moment could not distinguish what the strange thing might be. As I stood staring, the door into the garden opened, and the man-servant appeared. We looked at each other. Then ideas began to come. "Has Mr. â€"â€" gone out that way? " said I. "No, sir. No one has come out this way. I was expecting to find him here. " At that I understood. At the risk of disappointing Richardson I stayed on, waiting for the Time Traveller; waiting for the second, perhaps still stranger story, and the specimens and photographs he would bring with him. But I am beginning now to fear that I must wait a lifetime. The Time Traveller vanished three years ago. And, as everybody knows now, he has never returned.

Answer:
Narrator
An anonymous narrator tells the story and refers to the characters using third-person pronouns like “he” and “she.”
Point Of View
The novel has a childlike point of view. The narrator has access to the thoughts and feelings of the novel’s protagonist, Bruno, and his perspective dominates the tale. As a nine-year-old boy, Bruno frequently misunderstands the adult world around him. For instance, he doesn’t comprehend the nature or purpose of the concentration camp over which his father presides. He also mishears the camp’s name, misunderstanding “Auschwitz” as “Out-With.”
Tone
Fable-like yet foreboding. As a young child, Bruno understands little of what’s going on around him. Because of this, the novel has a fable-like tone in which Bruno sees everything as an adventure. Yet, as Bruno slowly learns more about the desolate realities of the camp, the tone of the novel grows increasingly foreboding.
Tense
Past
Setting (Time)
1943
Setting (Place)
Berlin, Germany, and the Auschwitz concentration camp in Nazi-occupied Poland
Protagonist
Bruno, a nine-year-old German boy
Major Conflict
The novel’s major conflict arises when Bruno’s family is forced to move from their home in Berlin to a desolate place in Poland. Isolated, friendless, and far away from the familiar comforts of home, Bruno rails against the injustice of his situation. He also feels confused about the people in the striped pajamas he can see from his bedroom window, living on the other side of a tall fence.
