Although this is true, later in the same scene Cole cries expressing his emotions which tells the readers that he knows what he did was wrong and deep down he wants to do better and change. In another scene of the book Cole decides to make dinner for everyone. This shows that he has changed and become loyal. He shows that he cares about others and wants to have joy in his life, he worked hard and showed that he respected others. Another way that shows Cole's improvements is when he hugs his mom. He is showing her that he cares and that he has changed into a better person.
