what is a simple system?

Answers

Answer 1
Simple Systems have few components and their behavior is in all respects fully understandable and predictable. An example would be a solid ball falling under the action of gravity through air. This Simple System consists of the ball, the air, and the gravitational force. Here we usually assume a single ball, constant acceleration of gravity, a viscous drag on the ball, and Newton’s laws. When making these assumptions, we arrive at very useful answers. We did, however, neglect many aspects. If, for example, we would ask how the behavior changes when we go from one ball, to two, to three, or even more balls that fall close to each other, our “Simple System” assumption fails. It is not sufficient to generalize from one ball’s behavior to many. Instead we need to consider the interaction of the balls through their self‐generated vortices. This makes the latter example a topic for Complex Systems Research.

Concrete has a density of 2.30 grams per centimeter cubed. What is the
mass of a concrete block in kilograms that is 1000.Ocm x 1000.Ocm x 15.0
cm? *

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

density=2.30 g/cm^3

volume=1000.0 cm*1000.0 cm*15.0 cm=15000000

now we know that

d= m/v

therefore

m=d*v

m=2.30*15000000

m=34500000 g

now we have to convert grams into kg

1kg=1000 g

34500000 g=34500000/1000

34500000 g=34500 kg

Earth has a great variety of surface features that are caused by weathering and erosion. Which of the following describes a change due only to weathering?

Answers

Answer:

Weathering describes the breaking down or dissolving of rocks and minerals on the surface of the Earth. Water, ice, acids, salts, plants, animals, and changes in temperature are all agents of weathering.

Once a rock has been broken down, a process called erosion transports the bits of rock and mineral away. No rock on Earth is hard enough to resist the forces of weathering and erosion. Together, these processes carved landmarks such as the Grand Canyon, in the U.S. state of Arizona. This massive canyon is 446 kilometers (277 miles) long, as much as 29 kilometers (18 miles) wide, and 1,600 meters (1 mile) deep.

Weathering and erosion constantly change the rocky landscape of Earth.

1. Describe what DDT is and how does it impact the food web. 2. Do you think humans health can be affected by hazardous bioaccumulates in an ecosystem? Make sure you explain using a statement from the reading. 3. Do you think DDT is the only bioaccumulate that can affect the food webs of an ecosystem?

Answers

Answer:

1. DDT may alter the central nervous system of the animals living in an ecosystem contaminated with this synthetic insecticide, thereby affecting their food relationships

2. Yes, indeed it has been shown that the incidence of deaths by cancer is significantly higher in areas where DDT is used as an insecticide. Moreover, it also been shown that this compound alters the endocrine system of most animals.

3. DDT is a synthetic biomolecule insoluble in water and persistent in the environment, and it is therefore a severely hazardous formulation. Persistent organic pollutants include synthetic organochlorine pesticides (for example, DDT), industrial chemicals, especially toxic polychlorinated biphenyls such as those used in insulating fluids for transformers and capacitors and industrial hazardous substances, including polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDD) and dibenzofurans (PCDF).

Explanation:

Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) is an organochlorine substance originally used as an insecticide, which became infamous due to its environmental impacts. In 1972, the US banned the use of DDT; however, there are countries that still use it as an insecticide for the control of mosquitoes in endemic malaria areas.

Among the different forms of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the sun, which form is absorbed by plants for photosynthesis?.

Answers

Answer:

visible light is the em radiation absorbed by plants for the photosynthesis process.

The form of electromagnetic radiation that is absorbed by plants for photosynthesis is known as visible light. This is also known as photosynthetically active radiation (PAR).

What is Photosynthesis?

Photosynthesis may be defined as a type of process through which green plants and some photosynthetic algae synthesize their own food in the form of glucose with the help of carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight.

Visible light lies in the visible spectrum of wavelength from 400 to 700 nm. This visible spectrum is a system where we study the properties of light. This spectrum defines the relationship between energy and wavelength.

Therefore, the visible light or visible spectrum is the form of electromagnetic radiation that is absorbed by plants for photosynthesis.

Why is biology so fun?

Answers

Answer:

Biology is a fascinating subject in and of itself. It has been my favorite subject to read about and study since I was an incredibly young child. Biology is unique in its complexity and the way living things interact with one another and with their environment. It is fascinating to consider that many of Earth's rocks and minerals came from living things. Chalk and limestone are the remains of small aquatic creatures, particularly shellfish, which died and fell to the seabed, where they were buried and compressed into rock. A limestone or chalk that has been subjected to elevated temperatures and pressures, for example, is metamorphosed into marble. The fact that flints started out as sponges is less well known. Mineralogy and geology on Earth would be quite different if there were no living things.

A  defective mitochondria is the primary cause of the LHON because it causes mtDNA is involved in the encoding of ubiquinone oxidoreductase         (subunits of NADH) that is the first complex of the electron transport chain. So, any defect or mutation in mtDNA causes neuronal defects.

Mitochondrial defect due to mutation in amino acid exchanges in ubiquinone oxidoreductase affects optic nerves causing loss of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) and their axons that leads to vison loss.
