Can somebody help me with “the medicine bag” essay?

The most significant difference is that the short story emphasizes the emotional struggle of Martin, while the video shows the physical struggle of Dachina Cochise. This can be shown in the short story when it states, “’Thank you, Grandpa.’ I said softly...Two weeks later, I stood alone on the lonely prairie of the reservation and put the sacred sage in my medicine bag.”(Sneve 78, 79) In contrast, the video shows, “These four days mean little sleep, scant food, and the need to set aside emotion. Throughout the ordeal, she must wear a face of stoic resolve.”(National Geographic) At this point in the short story, Martin successfully receives and inherits the medicine bag from his Grandpa and goes to the reservation to put the sacred sage in the medicine bag, signifying that he is the new bearer. As shown from the video quote, Dachina Cochise is starting her trials, but she has to go with little food or sleep and keep a straight face the whole time. This proves that the type of journey they go through makes a big difference in the purpose and meaning of the story. Throughout the story, it emphasizes his emotional growth and he Medicine Bag The right of passage that is most significant to me is passing down tradition like the story the medicine bag. The medicine bag has an important rite of passage in the story because it’s saying that families have their traditions. In the story Martin gets the medicine bag that his grandfather passed along to him once he knew it was his time to go. His grandfather came a long way to give it to Martin. He showed Martin what to put in it and what to do once it’s in hi possession.

The medicine bag has the most significant rite of passage to me because passing down tradition is very important in my opinion. In the story the grandfather came to town to give his grandson the medicine bag. He is giving the medicine bag to Martin because because it’s tradition to pass it down to the oldest male child. In the story Martin’s grandfather said that once he knows it’s time that he is getting ready to die is when he must pass along the medicine bag. When Martin had to learn what to put in it his grandfather told him that he needs to replace the sage that is in it now and he needs to put iron in it. In the story Martin was talking to his grandfather about why he is getting the medicine bag instead of his father and his grandfather said “My son”,“ He went one after clearing his throat, ”had no sons, only one daughter, your mother. So the medicine bag must be passed on to you.”

Select the correct answer. Read the excerpt from Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. This is the most favorable period for travelling in Russia. They fly quickly over the snow in their sledges, the motion is pleasant, and, in my opinion, far more agreeable than that of an English stagecoach. The cold is not excessive, if you are wrapped in furs-a dress which I have already adopted, for there is a great difference between walking the deck and remaining seated motionless for hours, when no exercise prevents the blood from actually freezing in your veins. I have no ambition to lose my life on the post-road between St. Petersburgh and Archangel.
Which two details are most important to include in a summary of the text? -It's much colder to sit still than to move around on deck.
-The narrator does not want to freeze before getting to Archangel.
-Furs are the best to wear for cold weather.
-It is a good time to be traveling in Russia, The narrator thinks sledges are better than riding in a stagecoach.

Answers

Answers.
It’s much colder to sit still than to move around the deck.

The two details that are most important to include in a summary of the text are-

-It's much colder to sit still than to move around on deck.

-The narrator thinks sledges are better than riding in a stagecoach.

A summary is a shorter version of an original text. Summaries are made to restate the main points of the original text.

In the given excerpt from Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein", the narrator Victor Frankenstein is talking about the snowy Russian winter. To him, traveling on the sledges is more favorable and faster than any "English stagecoach". He also mentioned how the cold can be well bearable with the fur coats that keep the body warm and safe. Victor also comments how it is better to walk around the deck, keeping oneself in motion rather than staying still which only makes one colder.

So, for a summarized version of the text, two important details are that the narrator believes it is much colder sitting still than moving around on deck and that he thinks sledges are better than riding a stagecoach. Thus, the correct answers are the first and fifth options.

The doctor came up to the machine where I was sitting and said: "What did you like best to do before the war? Did you practice a sport?"

My knee did not bend and the leg dropped straight from the knee to the ankle without a calf, and the machine was to bend the knee and make it move as riding a tricycle.

. . . In the next machine was a major who had a little hand like a baby's. He winked at me when the doctor examined his hand, which was between two leather straps that bounced up and down and flapped the stiff fingers, and said: "And will I too play football, captain-doctor?" He had been a very great fencer, and before the war the greatest fencer in Italy.

Read the following passage, then answer the questions below:-
Rosie loved watching the night sky. It shined with so many stars. Sometimes, she would clio
onto her father's shoulders. She would feel like a princess, sitting closer to those stars. One
anternoon, her father asked her if she wanted to go to the bench. She was happy to go there to
see her shiny stars.
So they went to the beach. But it was cloudy that night and there were no stars in sight. "Let's
see what happens tomorrow" the father said and they went back home. The next evening, they
went to the beach again and Rosie gnthered seashells. Suddenly, she found something very
strange. It looked like a big, orange star. "Had it fallen from the sky? And why wasn't it
shining?" asked Rosie. "It's not a star," the father smiled. "It's a starfish. It lives in the ocean.
Rosie didn't wait the stars to come out but she took the starlish home, Now, she loves both of
them.
A) Choose the correct answer from a,b,c and d
9. The best title for this passage is
a) The Starfish
b) The Cloudy Sky.
c) The Ocean
d) The Shiny Stars.
10. The underlined pronoun "it" in the 1" paragraph refers to............
a) the sky b) the beach c) the star
d) the shoulder
11. The underlined word "gathered" in the 2nd paragraph means....
a) smiled ) b) climbed
c) happened d) collected
12. The main idea of the second paragraph is
a) Rosie liked to go to the beach. b) Rosie gathered some seashells.
c) Rosie found a new thing to love. d) Rosie went back home
BAnswer the following questions:
13- Why did Rosie climb on her father's shoulders?
14- Where did the starfish live?

Answers

Answer:

9. A) The Starfish

10. A) The sky

11. D) Collected

12. C) Rosie found a new thing to love

13. Rose climbed on her father's shoulders so that she could be closer to the stars.

14. The starfish lived in the ocean.

Explanation:

The given passage is an adaptation of the story The Strange Star written by Anita N. Amin. Another title that best suits it is The Starfish. The starfish is the strange star Rosie discovers. The story tells about how her love for stars in the sky taught her about another creature that resembles them. This is how the starfish becomes the most important thing in the story, which is why option A is the best one.

In the second question, we need to find the phrase substituted by the pronoun it. This phrase is the sky. We can see that here: Rosie loved watching the night sky. It shined with so many stars. Only the sky mentioned in the previous sentence can shine with stars.

The words gathered and collected have the same meaning. When you're unsure about what a word means, you can look it up in a dictionary.

In the second paragraph, we can see how Rosie found the starfish and fell in love with it. This is why we can say that the main idea here is that Rosie found a new thing to love. We can confirm this with the help of the following sentence: Now, she loves both of them.
