How did the experiences of the British and Continental armies in the winter of 1777-1778 differ?

Answers

Answer 1

With the onset of the bitter winter cold, the Continental Army under General George Washington, still in the field, enters its winter camp at Valley Forge, 22 miles from British-occupied Philadelphia. Washington chose a site on the west bank of the Schuylkill River that could be effectively defended in the event of a British attack.

During 1777, Patriot forces under General Washington suffered major defeats against the British at the battles of Brandywine and Germantown; Philadelphia, the capital of the United States, fell into British hands. The particularly severe winter of 1777-1778 proved to be a great trial for the American army, and of the 11,000 soldiers stationed at Valley Forge, hundreds died from disease. However, the suffering troops were held together by loyalty to the Patriot cause and to General Washington, who stayed with his men. As the winter stretched on, Prussian military adviser Frederick von Steuben kept the soldiers busy with drills and training in modern military strategy.

When Washington’s army marched out of Valley Forge on June 19, 1778, the men were better disciplined and stronger in spirit than when they had entered. Nine days later, they won a victory against the British under Lord Cornwallis at the Battle of Monmouth in New Jersey.

Answer 2

The Continental Army suffered at Valley Forge from the cold and lack of food, while the British army lived in comfort in the quarters of Pennsylvania, where Loyalists provided them food.

What is the continental Army?

The Continental Army was the army of the United Colonies representing the Thirteen Colonies in the American Revolutionary War. It was formed on June 14, 1775, by a resolution passed by the Second Continental Congress, meeting in Philadelphia after the war's outbreak.

The Continental Army was created to coordinate the military efforts of the colonies in the war against the British, who sought to maintain control over the American colonies. General George Washington was appointed commander-in-chief of the Continental Army and maintained this position throughout the war. The Continental Army was supplemented by local militias and volunteer troops that were either loyal to individual states or otherwise independent.

Most of the Continental Army was disbanded in 1783 after the Treaty of Paris formally ended the war.

A fascist means a person that supports or promotes fascism which is a system of government led by a dictator who typically rules by forcefully and often violently suppressing opposition and criticism, controlling all industry and commerce, and promoting nationalism and often racism.

According to fascist ideology, democracy is seen as weak and ineffective because it allows for individual rights and freedoms to take precedence over the needs and goals of the nation as a whole.

How does Isabel over come her challenge?
Adventures of Isabel

Answers

Answer:

It has long been established that fear gives people the courage to do things they ordinarily wouldn't do and Isabel in Chains is no different in that regard. For her, fear acts as a spur to do the right thing, whether it's defending her epileptic sister Ruth or rescuing Lady Seymour from a raging fire.

In a way, Isabel's numerous acts of bravery are a way for her to deal with the almost permanent fear that she must feel as a slave, constantly subject to the whims of others. In her situation, many would just keep their heads down and do what they could to make the best of a very bad job. But not Isabel. She understands that it's better to die on your feet than live on your knees. So she takes risks—extraordinary risks—that put her in harm's way, but which at the same time also allow her to recover some of the dignity and self-worth that has long been denied to her as a slave.

What are safe states?

A. States that are always won by the candidate that spends the most money to campaign

B. States that have a long history of voting for a particular party

C. States that vote for the incumbent

D. States that forfeit their electoral votes

Answers

Answer:

B

Explanation:

A battleground state is a state in which there is no clear historical trend when it comes to how voters will vote. For instance, a state like Florida could vote Republican one election cycle and Democrat the next. For this reason, Florida is a "battleground" state and very important to both the Republicans and Democrats. If you win in a battleground state like Florida, then there is a very good chance that you will win the Presidency.

A "safe state", on the other hand, is a state that is going to almost always vote a certain way. For instance, Texas is considered to be a "safe" state for Republicans, as they have only lost the state once in the last 10 elections.
