What was one major effect of the Erie Canal?

A
The volume of trade passing through the southern ports decreased.

B
The cost of shipping goods on eastern roads increased.

C
The cost of shipping goods from the Midwest decreased.

D
The number of ships passing through northern ports decreased.

Answers

The correct answer is C. The cost of shipping goods from the Midwest decreased.

Explanation:

The Erie Canal was a man-made construction that connected New York state and territories in the Midwest including those near the Great Lakes. This canal was created at the beginning of the 19th century and helped the economy of the United States because it facilitated the transportation of goods between different territories. This implied products from the Midwest could be transported to the states in the east and this decreased the costs for shipping goods from the zones in the midwest. Moreover, the trade between the states involved increased. According to this, the correct answer is C.

Answers

Answer:

The earliest civilization in Mesoamerica was the Olmec. These people lived along Mexico's Gulf Coast between 1200 BCE and 400 BCE. In comparison to the Maya and Aztec, little is known about the Olmec, however; it is clear that both Maya and Aztec culture were influenced by the Olmec.During this time, the Maya were influenced by a civilization to the west of them known as the Olmecs. These people may have initially devised the long count calendar that the Maya would become famous for, Coe writes.

How did John Brown’s execution affect Louisiana and the whole United States?

It caused many abolitionists to go into hiding, giving slave owners in Louisiana and the rest of the South a renewed strength to protect their way of life.

It made slave owners in Louisiana and the rest of the South even more fearful of slave revolts, increasing the divide between North and South.

It convinced Louisiana slave owners that federal troops and the court system would protect them.

It caused many abolitionists to reach out to slave owners in Louisiana and the South to seek compromise.

Answers

Answer:

B. It made slave owners in Louisiana and the rest of the South even more fearful of slave revolts, increasing the divide between North and South.

Explanation:

John Brown was an abolitionist leader in America. He viewed rebellion and violence as a necessary element to end slavery in America. After many years of verbal persuasion, Brown considered that now through the means of violence they need to end American slavery. Therefore, on October 16, 1859, Brown led an army of some eighteen men into the small town of Virginia, Harper's Ferry, to seize arms and ammunition. His action led to his execution which in turn led many slavery abolitionists to come into action. This force made slave owners fearful of slave revolts. This also resulted in increased tension between the North and the South.

TITLE:What Is Communism?

What is communism? Communism was a plan designed to make
everyone equal and to give power to the average working man. A German
economist, Karl Marx, explained his idea of communism in his book "The
Communist Manifesto," written in 1848. There is both an economic and
political aspect (side) to communism.
In understanding the economic aspect, Marx declared that many
problems in society are due to the unoqual distribution of wealth (many
poor and few rich). To bring about happiness and prosperity for all, the differences between the rich and poor must be eliminated and everyone should be equal
(equality), which means you have to get rid of private ownership of property and business (private
enterprise). So, in Marx theory of communism, everyone owns everything, and the economy is
owned and run by the govt. (socialism). And since the rich will never give up their goods or the
power they get from their wealth voluntarily, a rebellion of the poor -- the working class - is
necessary.
Who will run the govemment, the political side of communism -- the people. But in practice,
the govt is run by one or a few powerful leaders (dictators who represent the people and
therefore there is no need for other political parties. Therd Pay be elections, but only candidates
from the communist party can ran. Any other party would not represent the interests of all the
people, i.e., ensure that all people benefit from the wealth of the country. The govt will take
whatever steps are necessary to ensure they maintain total control of the economic and political
(govt) life of the country. In return, they will provide for the basic needs of all people (equality).
The first country to be ruled by a communist government was Russia, (USSR). Vladimir
Lenin, established rule by the Communist Party in Russia in the early 1900's through a revolution
that overthrow the monarch. Russia had been ruled for centuries by a monarch, he was called the
"czar." Most Russians labored on farms for little money, no education, and little hope of
improving their lives or those of their children. Many people, while not believers in communism,
wanted a government that would improve their difficult lives. The idea that communism would
provide that hope was popular among many.
People in Russia were forced to do the work that the government dictated (said), and violence
against Russian citizens became common. Many poor citizens saw improvements in their lives
such as free education, basic health care, food and housing provided by the government. Others
experienced the violence the government used against anyone they thought did not approve or
agree with their role or the ideas of communism. Millions were sent to prison camps, executed,
and others saw their businesses, homes, and farms taken by the government because under
communism, the people, not, individuals own everything. Private ownership of businesses are
not allowed under a communist system.
